Story

The story only Tim can tell

Why a Marine Lieutenant Colonel makes playing cards, in under three minutes.

It started on a toy drive

The idea for Mission Match came out of a Toys for Tots drive in San Francisco in 2022. Tim wanted to build a toy, made in the United States, that gave kids a pathway to purpose and service — not just something to play with, but a way to meet organizations they wouldn’t otherwise encounter. The project officially launched in November 2022.

Joseph Shamy — Tim’s Texas Tech roommate and a JROTC instructor at Franklin High School in El Paso — became the fitness partner behind the program, and the two of them built it out from there.

“I told myself, ‘I can make my own toy made here in the United States that provides a pathway to purpose and service.’” — Timothy Gick, Muscle & Fitness
“I’m not going to push people one way or another… I’m simply going to provide the information so they can make their own informed decisions.” — Timothy Gick, The Zebra

What it looks like when it works

The game is the excuse. The point is the conversation kids have afterwards.
